This week we work with words that have suffixes such as: ing, ed, er, and est in Lesson 22. Please refer to the spelling section of the blog so that you and your child may practice these words at home. We will retell a story entitled “Mervin’s New Glasses” and write a journal entry about national pig day. In math, we focus on multiple strands of grade level concepts with a specific learning center focus on double digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. We have started a new Social Studies unit entitled “Looking at Work.” Students have their own copy of this unit on their google drive and can access it from home (via their Wolf Creek email account) if they want to enrich their studies of this topic at home.

Students will be constructing a boat and testing this boat in class this week. Please send recyclable, non-absorbent materials that your child may manipulate and assemble into a boat that: carries a load, is stable and mobile, and buoyant. I will provide hot glue and tape for adhesives. Please do not build the boat at home. Your child is required to build it by him/herself at school with minimal adult assistance. Library day is Monday, February 22 Day 3. Stuffy day is on Day 2 Friday, February 26. IREC Day is this Wednesday, February 24. Please have your child wear his/her school shirt. If she/he does not have one, I will provide one. We have studied all the 7 Habits of Digital Citizenship. Please refer to the IREC main page for this link. Have a great week!
