“Children develop empathy by seeing and hearing other people’s reactions and emotions, and when we don’t allow our children to experience the full brunt of those uncomfortable moments, we deny them a glimpse into the consequences and impact of their actions on others.” (p. 98).
Lahey, J. (2015). The Gift of Failure. Short Books.
This week: We will retell a book entitled “Olive the Other Reindeer” and write a journal entry about gift giving. In math, we focus on multiple strands of grade level concepts with a specific learning center focus on place value. We continue our second Social Studies unit entitled “Looking at People.” The students have their own copies of these units on their google drives and can access it from home (via their Wolf Creek email account) if they want to enrich their studies of this topic at home.
